Obituary for Lewis Walsh

LEWIS “JIM” WALSH
AUBURN & VAN BUREN---Lewis James “Jim” Walsh, Jr., 70 died Mar. 22, 2012 at Androscoggin Home Care-Hospice in Auburn. He was born in St. Leonard, N.B., Feb. 1, 1942, the son of Lewis J. Walsh, Sr. and Cecile Akerley. Jim was a 1961 graduate Van Buren Boys High School and a graduate of the Maine Criminal Justice Academy. He also graduated from a meat cutting schools in Montreal. He was employed as a police officer for many years for the Van Buren Police Department. Jim had also worked as a meat cutter for Saucier’s IGA in Van Buren. He was very proud to have been a volunteer EMT for the Van Buren Ambulance Service for many years. Jim was an Army veteran and a member of the American Legion Post 49 of Van Buren. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1635 of Van Buren. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Jacqueline (St. Pierre) Walsh of Auburn; one daughter, Kim Lebel and husband mark of Lewiston; one son, Shawn Walsh of Portland; one brother, John Walsh and wife Therese of Orange, MA; three grandchildren, Bethany, Hailey, and Emily Walsh. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one brother, Jerry Walsh. Relatives and friends may call at the Ouellette-Thibault Funeral Home, 118 High St., Van Buren, from 6 to 8 PM on Friday and 11 to 12:30 PM on Saturday, Mar. 31. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 PM on Saturday at the St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church.
